Future Teachers Hone Their Skills

QUT StudentsFinal year Bachelor of Education students from QUT Caboolture participated recently in a complimentary series of literacy and numeracy workshops for teachers at Kip McGrath Education Centre in Burpengary.

The dedicated students further enhanced their teaching skills by exploring successful strategies used in teaching literacy and numeracy in the classroom. Centre Director, Russell Carter and QUT Lecturer, Kylie Bradfield, facilitated the workshops and were impressed with the commitment and professionalism of the final year students. QUT student Emma, (not pictured) stated, “The support during this learning has been amazing. Thanks again for this experience. I have learnt a lot about myself as a learner and how I will be able to help my students in the future.”

At the final workshop, students were presented with their Completion Certificates and wished well as they embark on their future teaching careers. National Literacy and Numeracy Week runs from 29th August to 4th September.

Sydney Area Developer instrumental in developing scholarship for under privileged children

Mohammad_for-web_smlKip McGrath Education Centres and St George Community Housing in NSW have partnered to provide much needed educational assistance to under privileged children in the St George and surrounding areas. An initiative of local Kip McGrath business owner Mohammed Sabsabi, the scholarship program will benefit students whose family are public housing tenants and could not other wise afford after school tuition.

Scholarships worth a total of $40,000 have been offered to eligible children across the Sydney metro area. The scholarships consist of one year’s worth of tuition for each student.

Congratulations go to the winning students and sincere appreciation to Mohammed for his tireless efforts in organising this scholarship program and to all the Kip McGrath centres who have generously contributed to provide scholarships for these students.

Margaret and Ross Fraser-Smith, owners of Kip McGrath Palm Beach are proud to support the education of children in their local comunity, they also believe in helping those further away.

Margaret and Ross donate a portion of their tutoring fees to sponsor the education of a child in Tanzania. St Jude's Primary School relies on the generous donations of sponsors to provide quality education to some of the children of Tanzania. The Palm Beach centre is currently sponsoring Sefu A who is in Standard 3.
